  Member Benefits

The Federation of Irish Sports aims to:
  1. Advocate for Sport; and
  2. Build Capacity of Member Organisations.

ADVOCATING FOR SPORT
Prior to the establishment of the Federation there was no lobby group for sport. This has often resulted in a heavily fragmented approach by government to the area of sports policy i.e. there has been a tendency to deal with individual sporting organisations as opposed to considering sport as a group.

One of the principal objectives of the Federation is to act as an advocate for sport on behalf of all sporting organisations no matter the size. It is important that the benefits sport offers Irish society both in terms of the associated health benefits and social capital is and remains on the government agenda in terms of investment in sport and policy development.

The Federation seeks to advocate for sport by:
  • Lobbying/campaigning government
  • Raising awareness of policy developments in relation to sport
  • Making submission in respect of relevant government documents.
BUILDING CAPACITY OF MEMBER ORGANISTIONS
In order to develop the full potential of sport in Ireland it is vital that the organisations charged with delivering sport i.e. the National Governing Bodies of Sport & the Local Sports Partnership maximise their capacity and the resources available to them.

The Federation seeks to provide training opportunities on areas of common interest as well as organising networking events to facilitate improved collaboration and sharing of know-how and information.

The Federation seeks to build capacity through:
  • Hosting of training seminars/conferences
  • Annual networking lunch series
  • Consultation facility.
ADVANTAGES OF MEMBERSHIP:
  • Free attendance at Networking Lunches
  • Discounted Rates at Training Seminars/Conference
  • Discounted Rates with Partner Organisations
  • Advisory/Consultancy Facility/Service
  • Opportunity to contribute to Government Submission
  • Ensure Interests are represented at Government
