Job Title: Regional Development Officer -Events & Volunteers
Reporting To: Regional Director, Special Olympics Leinster
Working directly with: Director, Business & Administration Event & Games Development Manager, Volunteer Manager
Summary
Strengthen and develop the management of Special Olympics Ireland Event Development Programme and the Volunteer Development Programme in line with the current Special Olympics Ireland Strategy. The role will involve evening and weekend work.
Skills & Experience
Relevant qualification is essential e.g. physical education, sport/leisure management, health/fitness/leisure studies. A minimum of one year’s experience in a management role in a multi-faceted project is desirable.
A current full clean driving licence and own car or access to a car that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full. In the case of an applicant who declares that they have a disability which debars then from driving, access to a form of transport which will permit them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage, develop and implement a structured and cohesive plan for the region to achieve the objectives regarding Event Development and Volunteer Development in line with the prevailing current Special Olympics Ireland Strategy
· Liaise and work with relevant regional staff, committees and volunteers in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Event and Volunteer Programmes
· In conjunction with the Director of Support Services and Volunteer Manager:
- Play an active role in contributing to the planning and implementation of the Volunteer Programme
- Establish a system for capturing and delivering on the volunteer requirements to meet the needs of the regional programme, to include volunteer needs at affiliate group, area and regional level
- Continually evaluate the volunteer needs of the Region and plan for support, recognition and succession and for the strengthening of the volunteer programme
- Oversee and manage the volunteer data in the relevant electronic database system for capture of volunteer member information
· Ensure that the registration requirements for volunteers are fully complied with prior to their assignment to a role
· Manage and coordinate a Volunteer Support Centre to support the needs of the regional programme
· In conjunction with the Directors and staff of the Business & Administration and Sport Departments:
o Play an active role in contributing to the planning and implementation of the Event Management Programme
o Develop and implement Event Management structures, guidelines, policies and procedures at events at a regional level
o Establish and implement a system for monitoring and evaluating the management of and standards at events in the region
· Develop, assign and ensure trained event management teams are in place for events and the events are managed in line with the Event Management Guide.
· Ensure all events are managed with the highest regard to safety and best practice, whilst raising standards and ensuring consistency and uniformity across all events
· Support and implement the Health Services Programme as it relates to Event Development and Volunteer Development
· Attend and participate in Regional Committee meetings
· Develop and adhere to budget in conjunction with the Regional Director
· Participate in cross-functional training as required from time to time
· Undertake any other assignments as may reasonably be requested by the Regional Director

CUSI
Roles and Responsibilities:
The aim of the post is to increase the profile of third level sport at all levels, domestically and internationally and t odevise plans to develop the various aspects of CUSI operations. To lead, co- ordinate and support the delivery of high quality sports development programmes for CUSAI in accordance with the agreed Strategic plan, in association with CUSI Board.
The main areas to be covered under the Development Manager Role will be;
· To lead CUSAI into the next decade and develop the organisation in line with its Strategic Plan
· To undertake the delivery of the Task Force report recommendations
· To offer expert advice, leadership and guidance to CUSAI
· To manage the office procedures, staff and any future staff recruitment and structures
· To liaise with representative bodies with a view to developing sport in a coherent manner
· To engage with members in the delivery of various programmes, initiatives and events
· Develop partnerships with NGBs, Sport Councils, Local Authorities and communities in Ireland in support of sport and physical activity at third level
· To prepare reports, develop action plans and appropriate guidelines and policies
· Work with the Irish Institutes of Sport and other bodies to promote and support high performance Irish athletes studying at Universities and colleges both in Ireland and abroad
· Management and delegation of areas of budget, maintaining an appropriate audit trail in line with normal financial procedures and CUSAI financial policy
· As appropriate, represent CUSAI's interests at relevent national and International levels and with relevent organisations
